By joshua Asiwaju Of Ayere Donates ₦10m For Ogidi Community Centre, Unveils Solar Borehole At Ogidi Day Festival 2026
The Asiwaju of Ayere and Bashorun Akinjagula of Ogidi Kingdom, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, has pledged ₦10 million towards the construction of the Ogidi Ela Community Centre and commissioned a solar-powered borehole for the community during this year’s Ogidi Day Festival.
The donation and project commissioning took place at the colourful annual festival, which brought together sons, daughters, and friends of Ogidi Kingdom to celebrate culture, unity, and development.
Speaking at the event, Prince Olusoji said the gesture reflects his commitment to complementing government efforts at the grassroots. He described the solar borehole as a step towards ensuring sustainable access to clean water for residents, while the community centre is expected to serve as a hub for social, cultural, and developmental activities.
The Asiwaju also urged the people to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that their administrations have recorded visible progress in governance and infrastructure across the country and the state. _“Cooperation between the people and government remains vital to sustaining the gains of good governance and community development,”_ he said.
As a chieftaincy title holder, Prince Olusoji added that philanthropy is both a duty and a privilege. _“My contributions are aimed at supporting the community’s growth and improving the welfare of our people,” he stated.
The donation and borehole commissioning drew loud applause from residents, who praised the Asiwaju for his consistent support for Ogidi’s development.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Youth and Student Matters, Comrade Oladele John Nihi, described Prince Olusoji as _“a blessing to humanity whose philanthropic works cut across Kogi State.”
Responding on behalf of the community, Otunba Shuaib Ipinmisho thanked the Asiwaju for his generosity and commitment to Ogidi’s progress.
The Ogidi Day Festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural celebration, community development, and strengthening ties between traditional institutions and the people.
