ASIWAJU ASIRU IDRIS COMMENDS OTITOJU OLUSUYI, AIYENIGBA, ODI EXECUTIVE OVER SUCCESSFUL OKUN UNITY DIALOGUE

Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, has warmly commended Deacon Otitoju Olusuyi, Aiyenigba, and the entire Executive of Okun Development Initiative (ODI) for the successful organisation of the Okun Unity Dialogue, describing the gathering as a significant demonstration of the capacity of the Okun people to rise above differences and unite around their collective interest.

The impressive attendance of respected traditional rulers, elder statesmen, professionals, political leaders, community stakeholders and sons and daughters of Okunland from within and outside Nigeria speaks strongly to the credibility of the initiative and the desire of our people for greater unity.

Beyond the impressive turnout, what is particularly encouraging is the spirit of voluntary support, sacrifice and shared ownership demonstrated by individuals who contributed towards the success of the event. That is the true meaning of community.

I therefore congratulate Deacon Otitoju Olusuyi, Aiyenigba, the ODI Executive and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the dialogue a success.

The task ahead is to ensure that the enthusiasm generated by this gathering does not end with the event. Dialogue must lead to understanding; understanding must strengthen unity; and unity must ultimately translate into the development, political strength and prosperity of Okunland.

Our diversity should never become our weakness. We may have different opinions, interests and approaches, but on the progress and dignity of Okunland, we must always find sufficient common ground to stand together.

Who says Okun cannot come together?
Okun has demonstrated that we can. Now, we must sustain it.
