APWEN Sets July 2 For 2025 Girls’ Science Competition Grand Final In Lokoja.

The Kogi State Chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, APWEN, has scheduled Thursday, July 2, 2026, for the Grand Final of its 2025 Inter-Schools Science Competition for Girls.
State Chairman, Engr. Mrs. Cecilia Attah, said three zonal champions will battle for the APWEN Challenge Cup at the GYB Model Science Secondary School, Adankolo.
The finalists emerged after the group stages of the competition:
1. Kogi East: Our Lady of Schools, Anyigba
2. Kogi Central: Queen of Apostles Secondary School, Okene
3. Kogi West: Bishop Delisle College, Lokoja
The preliminary rounds were held across the three senatorial districts from March 2025.
According to Engr. Attah, the competition is one of APWEN’s flagship initiatives to remove barriers, build confidence, and grow girls’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, STEM.
“The Inter-Schools Science Competition for Girls is designed to improve the long-term representation of women in engineering and STEM,” she said.
She congratulated all participating schools and urged the three finalists to come fully prepared for the last stage.
APWEN is a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, committed to increasing the number of women in engineering and promoting STEM education for girls through mentorship, advocacy, and competitions.
The Grand Final is holding as part of the 2026 APWEN Week.
