APC Ward Chairmen Set Record Straight: ‘No Ambush, No Intimidation’ in Amodu’s Endorsement

PRESS CONFERENCE DELIVERED BY THE FOUR WARD CHAIRMEN OF UGWOLAWO DISTRICT IN OFU LGA

Members of the press, leaders of our great party, the APC, stakeholders, and the good people of Ofu Local Government Area.
Good morning.
1. My name is Hon. Salifu Wada, the Ugwolawo Ward 1 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and here are my fellow Chairmen of Ugwolawo ward 2, Ochadamu, and Aloji.
2. We, the Chairmen of Ugwolawo Ward 1, Ugwolawo Ward 2, Ochadamu Ward, and Aloji Ward; the four wards that make up Ugwolawo District, have called this press conference to address and correct a false and misleading story circulating on social media and among our people about a supposed ambush and forced endorsement of the Member representing Ofu in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu for another term.
3. Let us speak clearly and sincerely. There was no ambush. There was no intimidation. There was no forced endorsement.
4. The meeting held in Ejule recently was a peaceful consultative meeting. Stakeholders attended willingly, and there was no hidden agenda. At no point were people pressured, threatened, or forced to take any position.
5. However, we want to clearly correct one important misunderstanding.
6. The decision to support Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu for another term was NOT taken at the Ejule meeting. We took the decision at a later meeting on Wednesday 4th January 2026 at exactly 4:15pm, in Ugwolawo, the Ofu local government headquarters.
7. The meeting was attended by stakeholders, party leaders, elders, and representatives from all the wards in Ugwolawo district.
8. As leaders of our party at the grassroots, we personally mobilized and led our stakeholders to the meeting. Nobody was lured or deceived.
9. After sincere and constructive deliberations, we resolved as a district that leadership and representation should be judged by performance, not mere zoning arrangements. While zoning is also important, the interest of the people must always come first.
10. It was therefore collectively agreed and resolved that because of his good works, accessibility, and effective representation, the stakeholders of Ugwolawo District would support the reelection of the current Assembly member, Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu, popularly known as Barry Oil and Gas, for another term in the State House ofAssembly.
11. This decision was taken freely and democratically by stakeholders and leaders who believe that continuity of good representation is better for our people.
12. We want to stress that our stakeholders are mature and responsible men and women who cannot be forced or intimidated into taking decisions against their will. Any claim suggesting otherwise is simply false and politically motivated.
13. We therefore urge the public and members of our great party, the APC, to disregard such stories. Their plan is to cause confusion and division among us. And we will never allow that to happen.
14. Ugwolawo District remains united, peaceful, and committed to supporting leaders who deliver results for our people. Let us say here again without mincing
words that, come next State House of Assembly APC primary and main election, Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu, Barry Oil and Gas is our choice for continuity. On Ugwolawo accord we stand.
15. Thank you all, and God bless Ugwolawo District, Ofu Local Government Area, and Kogi State.
