APC Governor’s dissatisfied with choice of Shettima as VP candidate to meet Buhari today

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, reportedly chose Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate, causing contemporary division amongst party stakeholders and leaders.

APC govs meet Buhari, say March 26 convention stays

Some APC governors who worked for Tinubu’s election as the party’s presidential candidate in 2023 are said to be disappointed with Shettima’s selection.

According to sources familiar with the party’s inner workings, the announcement is diametrically opposed to the agreement they reached and is evidence of Tinubu’s conceitedness.

It will be recalled that Tinubu announced the selection of former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate on Sunday, following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura.

Nonetheless, the Governors are said to be dissatisfied with the way Shettima was chosen and introduced without bringing them alongside and have resolved to meet with President Buhari on Tuesday to air their grievances earlier than taking additional action, in accordance with Come up TV.

The Governors and other stakeholders see Shettima’s selection as a political miscalculation that will harm the party’s chances in the 2023 election due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

They believe that there are different candidates with higher electoral worth, even from the same district, who could have been chosen instead of Shettima.

The fact that the Tinubu/Shettima ticket produces an imbalanced spiritual ticket makes him even less appealing to the party’s disgruntled governors and other stakeholders.

Following dissent over the selection of Shettima, a former APC chieftain, Daniel Bwala has already announced his resignation from the party.

Bwala announced on his Twitter account on Sunday that he is leaving the ruling party on rules and convictions, which he considers being so costly.

He also acknowledged that at this point, what Nigeria wants is for us to work toward national unity.

“Tonight I formally resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on rules and conviction that I maintain are so costly,” the APC chieftain wrote. At this point in our nation’s history, our efforts and resources should be directed toward uniting our people.

“Asiwaju has named Kashim Shettima as his running mate. Kwankwaso intends to name a Pentecostal bishop as his running mate. There are fascinating instances ahead.”

Furthermore, sources claim that Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa State has resigned from all of Tinubu’s marketing campaign teams in protest of Shettima’s selection, which is considered insensitive to Nigeria’s spiritual plurality.
