Amb. Olusiji Aina Appointed has been Chairman as the University of Stellenbosch Business School, USB, Alumni West Africa Chapter.
Officially, USB became a University in 1916, almost 106 years old. The USB business school is essentially 50 years, has made some very strong presence in Nigeria in the last 8-9 years.
The University’s major two programmes are the Masters in Development Finance (MDevF) and the MBA.
The vision for USB is to offer the most desirable Alumni Association in Africa, as well as building the brand of USB and USB Alumni Association.
The goal of the USB Alumni Association is to: Promote the association by building its reputation, increasing its global reach and improving support for international recruitment as well as to grow the alumni association
It also aims at help USB and USB-ED build lifelong legacy that benefits USB students and alumni.
The association aims to create networking opportunities for alumni with other alumni as well as academic and industry leaders
In a statement announcing the appointment, Amb. Olusuji Aina was appointed following the stepping down of Madam Saiyo’s as the Chairperson for USB Alumni, West Africa Chapter.
The stepping down is due to her relocation to the UK.
In the statement Issued to Newsmen which read thus: ” This is just to officially notify the House that I have stepped down as the Chair for USB Alumni, West Africa Chapter.
The stepping down is due to my relocation to the UK, and our very capable Vice, Olusiji Aina is taking over the reigns.
Kindly accord him the same cooperation and support you have given me.
I trust he will lead the Chapter into new frontiers and achieve greater heights during his tenor.
It has been a pleasure working with you all and I know we all still have a lot to offer this great association.
I will remain an ex officio and will provide any support as may be required.
In his acceptance speech, Amb. Olusuji Aina thanked Mr. Shayo for the generous and thoughtful introduction.
Part of the statement reads: ‘ I am deeply honored and humbled to accept this responsibility.
Let me begin by also expressing my thanks to the entire USB Alumni West Africa Chapter, the executive committee, and our dear friends Christelle and Lizelle.
The history at USB reflects a great relationship between the University’s administration and the Alumni body, and it will certainly be a high priority for me to nurture that vital relationship by working closely with the entire Alumni of West Africa chapter in the years ahead.
And at every step of the way, the previous leadership of Isa and Shayo led committee have represented USB Alumni West Africa Chapter with class, dignity, and enthusiasm.
You both have been great diplomats for the institution—we are all proud!
Madam Shayo has led the USB Alumni to new heights and has set the stage for an exciting next chapter. Indeed, USB Alumni West Africa Chapter has had a remarkable history of successful Chairpersons who have guided the Alumni through tremendous growth and change.
This legacy reflects a strong institution with a clear sense of identity and purpose.
Working with the entire University community, I will strive to continue, and build upon, that powerful tradition.
As we look forward, there is much to do. The next phase of the Alumni strategic planning must get underway, building on the current plan.
We must foster a culture of philanthropy and sacrifice as we prepare for a far-reaching campaign to further the Alumni’s goals and priorities.
As we reaffirm our commitment towards a long lasting legacy that will birth new idea and opportunities, we will continue to seek new ways to foster values of diversity, opportunity, civility, sustainability, internationalization, and public service.
And we will need to work together to ensure that this precious jewel called USB Alumni West Africa Chapter can continue to flourish in service to our dear country, Africa, and the world at large.
