Amb. Nihi Leads NAKOSS, SUG, Tribal Student Bodies Pay Courtesy Visit to Kogi Poly Rector, Commend 100 Days in Office
Student leaders across Kogi State have reaffirmed their partnership with the management of Kogi State Polytechnic following a courtesy visit to the Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, to congratulate him on his first 100 days in office.
The delegation, led by Oladele John NIHI, Special Adviser on Youth and Student Matters to the Kogi State Governor, included representatives of the National Association of Kogi State Students [NAKOSS], the Student Union Government [SUG], and tribal student unions comprising the National Association of Ebira Students [NAES], National Association of Okun Students [NAOS], and the Igala Student Association [ISA].
During the engagement, the student leaders said the visit was a demonstration of the strong collaboration between management and the student body to drive collective progress for the polytechnic.
Oladele NIHI used the occasion to advocate for key student welfare priorities, including stronger leadership collaboration, the structural return of tribal associations, improved campus water supply, and better learning environments.
Responding, Prof. Avidime said steps were already underway to address infrastructure challenges, institutionalize student dues, and keep his office open and supportive to all students. He assured the delegation of his commitment to inclusive and responsive leadership.
“I commend the Rector for his humility, discipline, and student-first leadership. Kogi State Polytechnic is in safe hands, and we are fully committed to working together for a better campus experience,” NIHI stated after the visit.
The student leaders described the interaction as reassuring and pledged continued partnership with the polytechnic management to enhance student welfare and academic standards.
