Ajaokuta Not Part of Okura State. Kogi Lawmaker

The member representing Ajaokuta Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Abdulraheem Egidi has assured the citizens of Ajaokuta and the Entire Ebira kingdom that Ajaokuta Community will not be part of the proposed Okura State.

The assurance which was contained in a Letter addressed to the Ebira people of Kogi state was in response to the Bill for an Act to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) to Provide for Creation of Okura State with Egume as the Proposed State Capital and for Related Matters (HB.1568) that was sponsored by the Deputy House Leader, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims and eight others

Egidi said it’s important to address the recent concerns and apprehensions regarding the proposed creation of Okura State and its potential impact on Ajaokuta.

The letter reads “I want to assure you that your concerns are both heard and understood. The unity and well-being of our community are of paramount importance, and I am committed to ensuring that the interests of the Ebira people are safeguarded”.

“It has come to my attention that there are fears about Ajaokuta being included in the proposed Okura State. I want to categorically state that there is no cause for alarm. The process of state creation is a complex and inclusive one, requiring extensive consultations and considerations”.

“Rest assured, any decision regarding the boundaries and inclusion of areas will be made with the utmost transparency and in the best interest of all stakeholders.
I urge you all to remain calm and not entertain any fears or rumors. Our strength lies in our unity and collective resolve. Let us continue to work together, support one another, and focus on the development and progress of our beloved constituency”.
