The call to revive Nigeria and Africa’s largest but stalled Steel Company, the Ajaokuta Steel Company received a boost recently with the formal registration and announcement of the Ajaokuta City Chamber of Commerce.
According to a Press release by the Interim leadership and signed by Arc. Bob Achanya (Ficent) in Abuja, Ajaokuta City Chamber is a bilateral partnership agreement with prime investors and steel entrepreneurs in Europe to advocate, facilitate and orchestrate steel specific and allied sector harnessing that will provide sustained business in light and heavy steel manufacturing interests for economic prosperity of Kogi state and Nigeria at large.
Responding to questions, ARC. Achanya said with the Russians eminent return 98% completed plant, the stage was set for steel based planning and development as the so called Industry 4 is reliant ON technology and several steel related components for the output of the 4th industrial revolution to be locally available and BE of any utilitarian value.
He however, stressed that with Oil, solid minerals and steel endowment in the state, the government and all administrations now and in the future MUST be circumspect of the resource curse reality bedeviling Nigeria and other resource rich jurisdictions as the endowment does NOT necessarily result in prosperity but by focused, responsive, responsible, results oriented and futuristic leadership.
He applauded the Kaduna state government for it’s vision to support the establishment of Nigeria’s first steel company in Kaduna state that is set TO produce Nigeria’s first indigenous steel by 2022 and encouraged all states with such potentials to go INTO such sustainable economic and industrial revolution catalyst and launch the Nigeria’s INTO that realm of industrialized nations.
He said the entrance of Ajaokuta City Chamber will no doubt, ADD value to the several voices that are making tireless contributions to the resuscitation drive of Nigeria’s steel sector. He congratulated Kogi State for it’s resource endowments and called for policies that will explore and exploit same for the greater benefit of it’s People.
Arc.
