By joshua Agabi to Lead National Conversation on Nigeria’s Future at Justice Ajileye’s Book Launch
As anticipation builds for the public presentation of two landmark books on electronic evidence authored by retired High Court Judge and Professor of Law, Hon. Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, one of Nigeria’s most respected elder statesmen and legal icons, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the event.
Chief Agabi, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, will deliver a keynote address on the theme, “The State of the Nation,” a topic expected to provoke thoughtful reflection on Nigeria’s democratic journey, governance challenges, security concerns, economic realities, and the future of the rule of law.
The event, slated for July 2, 2026, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Conference Centre, Jabi, Abuja, will also feature the unveiling of two authoritative legal texts: Electronic Evidence (Second Edition) and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume II (2020–2025).
Legal observers have described the publications as timely contributions to the growing body of knowledge on electronic evidence, a field that has become increasingly important in the administration of justice in the digital age.
The organisers noted that Chief Agabi’s participation adds a unique dimension to the occasion, given his distinguished record in public service and his reputation as a principled advocate of justice, constitutionalism, and national unity.
Beyond the celebration of legal scholarship, the event will witness the formal launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students, a philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting brilliant but underprivileged students with scholarships, mentorship, and educational opportunities.
The Foundation is inspired by Justice Ajileye’s personal journey and lifelong commitment to education. It seeks to ensure that young Nigerians with talent and determination are not denied opportunities because of financial constraints.
Organisers say the occasion will bring together eminent jurists, senior advocates, academics, government officials, corporate leaders, development partners, students, and members of the public for what promises to be an evening of intellectual engagement, national reflection, and social impact.
