Accord Party Disown Chris Imumolen, Says He Can’t Speak For The Party

The Accord Party yesterday disassociates itself from a statement credited to the party’s former 2023 Presidential Candidate, Professor Chris Imumolen for criticizing Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke for defecting to the Accord Party.

The National Coordinator of the party stated that, Imumolen has long ceased to be a member of the party and does not have the authority to speak to them.
Adeniyi added that, in trying to display his ignorant to challenge the legitimacy of Governor Ademola Adeleke‟s victory at the Accord Party‟s primary, Imomulen hurriedly went to a closet to organize a Kangaroo primary elsewhere in Osun State unknown to the public, proclaiming himself as National Chairman and his disguised National Working Committee members.
Aljazirah Nigeria recalls that the party’s former 2023 Presidential Candidate, Professor Chris Imumolen, has sharply criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to the party, describing the move as a ‘back-door entry’ and declaring it ‘invalid.’
The Osun State Governor had announced his defection to Accord on Tuesday, citing the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Imumolen-led faction claims that Governor Adeleke’s move failed to follow proper party procedures, raising serious questions about the legitimacy of his reported action and his recent clearance as the sole governorship candidate.
According to party insiders claim that such a move threatens internal cohesion and could deepen existing divisions within political circles.
The party further stated that the actions of Imumolen are illegal, null and void and warned the General public not to associate themselves with him as he and his group do not represent Accord Party in any capacity whatsoever. We equally call on the INEC to discountenance this renegade group.
Furthermore, Accord Party commend INEC for recognizing Governor Ademola Adeleke as the legitimate candidate of Accord Party duly elected as the consensus candidate of our party.
They stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke was duly registered at his Ward as a member of the Accord party, hence he collected the nomination form.
“The Party primary was conducted and witnessed by INEC officials as he was subsequently elected as Accord flag bearer. Also, the Accord constitution also stipulates the party ticket to a sole candidate in the absence of any other contestants.” They stated.
