Abubakar Achimugu Applauds Governor Ododo’s Minimum Wage Approval, Declares Support for Kogi East APC Chairmanship Candidates

 

Alhaji Abubakar Adaji Achimugu, a former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, has lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s approval of a new minimum wage for civil servants.

During a closed-door meeting held in his hometown of Aloji, Ofu Local Government Area where he gave the commendation, Achimugu met with APC local government chairmanship candidates from Kogi East to rally support for the party and preach unity ahead of upcoming elections.

The meeting, which was attended by chairmanship candidates from across Kogi East, was aimed at consolidating support for the APC and fostering cooperation among party members.

Achimugu, who played a prominent role in the last gubernatorial election, called on the candidates to work together in ensuring the party’s success at all levels, emphasizing the importance of unity as a key factor in driving Kogi’s development forward.

In his remarks, Achimugu commended Governor Ododo for his proactive approach to improving the welfare of Kogi State’s civil servants through the approval of a N72,500 minimum wage. He highlighted this gesture as a testament to the governor’s commitment to the well-being of workers amidst the country’s ongoing economic challenges.

The approval of the minimum wage, which takes effect immediately, marks a historic increase in the state’s wage structure and reflects the administration’s focus on easing the economic pressures faced by workers.

In a statement made during the unveiling of the new wage structure, Governor Ododo also announced a one-year suspension of tax deductions on the approved amount. This suspension is aimed at allowing civil servants to fully benefit from the wage increase without the immediate burden of additional taxation.

The decision has been widely applauded across the state, with many viewing it as a necessary step toward improving the livelihood of government workers and stabilizing the state’s economy.

In a goodwill message at the Aloji meeting, the Kogi East Zonal Chairman of APC Alhaji Suleiman Omika Thanked Achimugu for his steadfastness and Commitment to ensuring the Success of the Party at all Levels, he enjoined Mr Achimugu to Continue the good work. while speaking unbehalf of all the APC Candidates from Kogi East, Hon. John Urah Ikani expressed joy over the moral support and Encouragement from Mr. Abubakar Achimugu, and thanked him for his Firm Support for the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Executive Governor of Kogi, he also urged other critical Stakeholders to emulate Mr Achimugu to ensure rapid development of Kogi State.
