Dear Engr. Bashiru Gegu, Sarkin Yaki of Daudu,
On this special day, as I mark another year of life marking my 55th birthday, I pause to celebrate not just my birthday, but the blessing of knowing you.
Thank you for the day our paths crossed. I have no regrets. Meeting you has been one of the finest gifts of my journey. As the Honourable Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, you have shone with uncommon distinction — steady, purposeful, and dignified, like the Northern Star that guides without noise.
You are a rare breed in public service. A politician with a human heart. A leader whose presence brings calm, whose words carry weight, and whose actions speak louder than titles. I am genuinely proud to call you friend and ally.
I have watched you closely. While many have had the privilege to serve in appointive and elective capacities from Kogi LGA, you stand apart. You are the very definition of service wrapped in humility. The impact you have made across our communities, especially in Kogi LGA, remains profound and unchallenged. From touching individual lives to strengthening institutions, you have chosen to lead with compassion.
I am a living witness to how you give without fanfare, how you lift others without seeking credit, and how you remain accessible to the least among us. That is the mark of true leadership.
Engr. Gegu, continue in this good stead. Men may not always have the capacity to reward the kind of selfless service you render. But I am certain of this: The Almighty God, who sees in secret and rewards openly, will go ahead of you. He will protect you, enlarge your coast, and crown your labour with honour.
On my birthday today, my prayer for you is simple: May every sincere desire of your heart find expression. May your wisdom continue to shape policy, may your kindness continue to heal hearts, and may your legacy continue to inspire the next generation of leaders from Kogi and beyond.
In a time when integrity is scarce, you remain, without mincing words, a good man. And the world is better for it.
