
A Resounding Celebration of Excellence: Kogi LG Directors and Treasurers Honour AG Hajiya Habibat Tijjani Oyiza Onumoko

Yesterday marked a remarkable chapter in the history of Kogi State civil service as the Local Government Service Commission headquarters in Lokoja came alive with joy, accolades, and a deep sense of appreciation. The Directors of Local Government (DLGs) and Local Government Treasurers (LGTs) across the 21 LGAs of the state gathered to honour and affirm their unwavering support for a trailblazing leade Chief Dr. Hajiya Habibat Tijjani Oyiza Onumoko, FCNA, FCTI. The first female Accountant General of Kogi State.

The event, aptly themed *“Celebrating Our Own: Mama Kogi Forward Ever,”* was more than a ceremony, it was a heartfelt testament to the impact of one woman’s dedication to service, excellence, and humanity. Dignitaries from various sectors of the state graced the occasion, including the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, the AGILE Coordinator Kogi State, Managing Directors of RUWASSA and Climate Change, the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, and other high-ranking government officials.

In their separate remarks, speakers praised Chief Dr. Oyiza Onumoko for her steadfast commitment to duty, most notably her pivotal role in ensuring prompt payment of salaries and entitlements to civil servants across the state. Her leadership has not only stabilized the financial management system of the state but also restored confidence in the public sector workforce.

Beyond her official duties, the Accountant General’s philanthropic heart was highly commended. As the National Convener of the FAWWASS Group Nigeria, she has continuously demonstrated compassion for the vulnerable through numerous humanitarian gestures. From sponsoring educational opportunities to footing medical bills and empowering women and youth, her legacy is already deeply rooted in service to others.

Speakers called on her to remain undistracted by detractors and to keep moving forward on her noble path of transformation and accountability. “You are on the right track, Mama Kogi,” many echoed, urging her to see opposition as a sign of meaningful progress.

In a show of political alignment and commitment, the DLGs and LGTs reaffirmed their full support for the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of Kogi State. They pledged to work in synergy with the state leadership, driven by the vision of a more productive and people-centered government.
