
OON National Honour; Kogi Finance Commissioner Congratulates Premium Times Publisher, Mr Dapo Olorunyomi, says honour well deserved

The Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA has extended warm congratulatory greetings to a proud son of Aiyegunle gbede and a reknown investigative journalist, Mr Dapo Olorunyomi on the deserving National honour of OON(Order of the Niger) confered on him by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, today been democracy day.
Asiwaju in his message of felicitations described the honour bestowed on Mr Dapo as an exemplification of a “round peg in a round hole” owing to his invaluable contribution to the journalism profession and his indelible effort towards restoration of democracy and civil rule from the bondage of military junta. His voice was voiceferous, and his pen was unstoppable in dishing out the collective will of the people against the forced rule of the military.
In his words, ” Egbon Dapo Olorunyomi is a revered journalist within and without the Nigerian media space, a publisher and editor-in-chief of the premium Times – Nigeria’s leading investigative online news plartform. His contributions towards the return of democracy in Nigeria, using his media prowess, can not be overemphasised. On the account of his work with the News Magazine, the then abacha government declared him wanted, which subsequently forced him to exile in the United States. He was unrelenting, and the agitation continued fiercely even while outside the shores. Himself and other heroes of our democracy are worthy of every praise and national honour. ”
“Mr Dapo is a true conscience of the society based on his profound achievement in the journalism fiefdom, which includes upholding the ethos of the profession, unbiased reportage, and a courageous voice of the voiceless, even in the most inconvenient circumstances. His public service records are also phenomenal and progressive, which were well demostrated when he served as the policy director and chief of staff to the former EFCC chairman.”
