Eid-el-Kabir: Kogi Environment Commissioner Greets Muslim faithfuls, Harps on Love, peaceful coexistence..
The Kogi State Commissioner For Environment and Ecological Management, Engr Oliwasegun Joseph, has sent his message of felicitations to Muslim faithfuls in this year’s Celebration of Eld el Kabir.
Engr. Joseph preached love, reconciliation, sacrifice and unity amongst Kogites, congratulated Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo and Former Gov Yahaya Bello for witnessing yet another celebration of Eid El Kabir.
The Commissioner, in a statement called for reconciliation, peaceful co-existence amongst the people, as well as sacrifice to reflect on the lessons of the sacred season.
He also urge citizens to imbibe the teachings of the doctrine of Islamic faith, which was premised on sacrifice and peace.
Engr. Joseph called on Kogites and Nigerians at large to “live in peace, love and eschew all forms of violence, strife, insecurity, corruption, indiscipline, disrespect for constituted authority, and all forms of criminality and social vices.
In his words “All Kogites must love one another and the state. At all times, we should put the state and nation first before self. As we have no other state or nation which we can rightly call our own.
“It’s therefore behoves us all to join hands with the administration of the Chief servant, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA to move the State forward and actualize the dreams of the founding fathers of our dear state in our lifetime.”
The Commissioner congratulated Muslim faithfuls as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, specifically recalled the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s attempt to sacrifice his only son, which culminated into the celebration of Eid-al-Adha to commemorate his (Ibrahim or Abraham) willingness to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son.
Engr. Joseph appealed for greater unity, love, and peaceful co-existence among Kogites as well as total support for the State Government as it strives to improve their well being and develop the land.
The Commissioner however, emphasised that the occasion should be used to engender love and foster unity by making exemplified sacrifice amongst all in the spirit of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim culminating into the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir
The Commissioner reiterated the determination of the Ministry of Environment to ensure cleanliness of the State during the celebration, urged faithful to continue to pray for our leaders in their passionate quest to raise the bar of good governance and make the state a cynosure of all other federating units.
