Breaking News: High Court Affirms HRH Ajofe Chief Jonah Idris Okai as rightful occupant to the throne of Onu Abocho.

 

A Kogi State High Court sitting in lokoja, today 27th February, 2025 upheld the nomination, selection and appointment of HRH Ajofe Chief Jonah Idris Okai as the rightful occupant to the throne of Onu Abocho.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Folorusho Ajayi of high court No 7 further stated that, the nomination, selection of Onu Abocho by the kings makers and subsequent approval of the appointment by Kogi State government was in order.

In a consolidated judgement of the five suits challenging the nomination of His Royal Highness, Jonah Idris Okai, the Judge said he was rightly appointed and his appointment stand.

Subsequently, he dismissed all the suits instituted against Onu Abocho for lacking in merit.

Justice Rotimi ruled that the winner is entitle to a cost, but been a member of the rulling house and in the spirit of oneness, restrained from awarding cost.

Prof. Benjamin Ogwo responding to the press on behalf of his client, Onu Abocho, appreciated the judge for the erudite judgement, urge the parties to continue to live in peace for the progress and development of the community.

Barr S.O Ayobe on behalf JJ Usman SAN, who represented the Attah Igala and Chairman Igala area traditional council, commended the judgement for excellent judgement and result which bring to an end the legal dispute to the stool of Onu Abocho.

In his response, the Onu Abocho, Ajofe Chief Jonah Idris Okai appreciated all the rulling houses and the good people of Biraidu, said the victory is for all sons and daughters of the area, called for the support of everyone to move the community forward.

Recalled that some other suits instituted by another claimant in Anyigba high court was equally dismissed on 18th of February, 2025 for lack of merit.

The suit involved Sehu Amade before Her lordship, Hon justice Awa Yusuf.
