Anthrax vaccination: NVMA commends Kogi state governor for prompt response to animal welfare & public health concerns

 

Kogi state government on Monday, 14th of October commenced a statewide vaccination exercise against Anthrax disease in large animals and small ruminants in some Fulani settlements in Lokoja.

 

The exercise which is fully funded by LPRES has engaged all the veterinary doctors within the state to move round the 21 LGAs to administer the vaccine and also ensure that livestock in Kogi state are generally protected against such zoonotic diseases like Anthrax.

 

The Chairman, Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Dr Tolu Omotugba commended the effort of the state government towards animal welfare and by extension, public health of Kogi State citizens.

He also expressed satisfaction with the work done so far by the veterinary officers on the field.

Dr Tolu promised the readiness of his members to complete the exercise in record time while also appealing to the state government not to renege in his effort to combat animal diseases, especially the ones with public health concerns.
