Kogi LG Poll: SDP Exco, Wards Chairmen Protest Imposition Of Chairmanship candidate In Ofu
Chairmanship Aspirants on the platform of the Social Democratic Party,.SDP in the forthcoming Local Government Elections in Kogi State are expressing grief over alleged undemocratic behavior of few members who have hijacked the chairmanship ticket in Ofu .
Recall that the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission,.SIEC had announced the date for election in the state for Councillorship and Chairmanship positions in the 21 Local Councils .
Various political parties are now preparing for the poll including the opposition Social Democratic Party, SDP who made an impressive showing in the last governorship elections in the state .
Ofu Local Government Area is now boiling over the attempt by a faction loyal to Elder Ubolo Okpanachi to impose an old time supervisory councilor in the local government council against the popular interest of the masses.
As at the last count, three chairmanship aspirants have filed their petitions against such a decision to the National Secretariat of the party calling on them to intervene in the alleged endorsement of Mr. Noah Akwu.
The 63 year old politician’s alleged endorsement against the wishes of the people is causing a roar in the area .
The ward Chairmen and Local Government executives of the party have formally lodged a complaint against the nomination of Mr. Noah Akwu by the faction loyal to Elder Ubolo Okpanachi.
Those who obtained forms for the chairmanship election on the platform of the SDP in the council for the poll were Honourable Joseph Sunday Achrma , Honourable Gambo Haruna and Honourable Jerimiah Baba .
