Where did we miss it?
A look at the current happenings under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The recent happenings in our beloved country has aroused my conscience and curiosity.
Political Analysts, academicians, opinion molders in our country have aired their views on the state of the nation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There are those who believe the prevailing hardship, hunger and insecurity in our country is linked to the bad administration of our past leaders who had hitherto ruled this great country of ours. There are however those who believe that some of the hasty decisions of President Tinubu on his inaugural day has caused severe hardship in the country.
Those who believe the current hardship in the country is caused by the current administration of President Tinubu are not surprised at the ENDBADGOVERNANCE protest that rocked the country in recent times. There is this believe that the hasty pronouncement of the president on the removal of oil subsidy on his inauguration day oiled the wheel of hardship in the country. It is my candid believe that a good policy statement must not be put in place in a hasty manner. On a good note, a sound policy statement must pass through some tested administrative procedures bearing in mind the positive and negative implications of such policy direction.
The lack of due process in the oil subsidy policy of president Tinubu, as many would say, had led to increases in transportation, essential commodities and food stuffs since these increases are tied to the abrupt upward review of oil prices right from the day President Tinubu pronounced the removal of oil subsidy. As we can see it today even right on our door steps, the removal of the oil subsidy has caused famine, insecurity and vices in our country.
Let me opine here that my understanding of the current realities we are facing in our country should be viewed from the previous prophecy of the reveverred Clergyman, Late Prophet Temitope B. Joshua who during one of his sermon prophesized of a gloomy Nigeria in the nearest future. Indeed he saw Nigeria faced with poverty and hunger which generated into protest and revolution. And to confirm the Prophets vision, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufenyi of recent a long time ago also saw Nigeria being faced with famine, hunger and darkness.
In spite of the prophecies by the men of God, it is amazing that no Nigeria leader either past or present saw reason to subject the two prophecies into scrutiny on what the future holds for Nigeria and her people. To me, this could be a great missing link to the preservation of our future as a nation.
In one of the Holy book, we are told of an Egyptian King who had a mysterious dream and had to invite Joseph who was serving a jail term at the time for an interpretation of his dream.Joseph filled with the Spirit of God ( just like the prophets of our days in Nigeria) interpreted the dream and told the King that there will be seven years of plenty and seven years of famine. Rather than vilifying Prophet Joseph as we do on Nigeria prophets in our present time, the King asked Joseph – “What then shall we do?” The timely counsel of Joseph to the King that reservoirs should be built to store food ahead of the impending famine saved Egypt and other countries of the world from famine as they have to travel to Egypt to buy food during the famine. A solution to a great famine that would have consumed Egypt and nations of the earth was averted because a King believed and acted on Joseph’s interpretation of his dream. Do Nigeria leaders and followers alike believe on prophets of God in our beloved country? Is this where we are greatly missing it?
I strongly believe it is high time our national leaders should wake up and come to the stark reality that prophecies of men of God are more weightier and result oriented than administrative capabilities and policy statements. It is very obvious that what is currently happening in our nation economically is far beyond policy statements of government.
In the middle of the recent protests, President Tinubu made a nation wide broadcast to assuage the minds of the protesters. In spite of the broadcast, leaders of the protest were not pleased. Many of them saw the broadcast as empty and never met their demands. As a matter of fact some of them promised to resume the protest by October 1. This of course are not the best of times for our beloved country.
Considering what I may refer to as president Tinubu’s dilemma, I can firmly link him to a literary work and a Biblical prophecy. On the literary side, the art work of Ola Rotimi in his ” The gods are not to blame.” comes to mind. In the literary work, the author profoundly tells of a sooth sayer who predicted that a child will be born who will kill his father and marry the mother. In spite of skepticism by the people, it came to pass in the land. Two, on the side of the Biblical analogy, it was prophesized that Jesus Christ will be born and die for the sins of his people. For this prophecy to come to pass, Judas Issichariot became a culprit in the fulfillment of the prophecy. The silver lining in both analogies is that prophecies must surely be fulfilled but not without a human factor to bring them to fulfillment.
My fears today is that a strange wind is blowing in our nation and our leaders are not following the right direction to stem the tide. As could be seen, President Tinibu’s broadcast to assuage the feelings of Nigeria protesters failed to yield the desired results. It must therefore be dawn on us as a people that in spite of the best political and economic advisers who scripted the president’s speech, it yielded no positive result. This could be viewed from the fact that the prophecies of late prophet Temitope B. Joshua and that of Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufenyi are gradually been fulfilled and signifying the fact that no matter what the powers that be put in place, what has been prophesized for Nigeria must come to pass.
Lets not forget that late prophet T.B Joshua prophesized that protest will start in Nigeria but the police and other security agencies will foil it. He also said the second leg of the protest will be a revolution where all Nigerians will be in agreement against a sitting government. On the other hand, prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufenyi said he saw hunger, despondency and protest that will ultimately lead to darkness.
To me, President Tinubu and lovers of our great nation can still do something about Nigeria if only they can humble themselves like the Egyptian King and call on Nigeria prophets and reverred men of God to ask the simple question – “What then should we do?” It is only by so doing that the Nigeria nightmare can be tamed.
We have vilified our prophets in this country for too long. It is now time for our leaders to embrace them and ask the question – “What then shall we do?”
As we speak at the moment, there appeared to be a long August break on rain in Nigeria. Currently farmers across the country are crying of shortages of rain. If the situation persist, is the country not heading for famine? If we can protest on the streets against president Tinubu’s biting economic policies, can we as a people fight God for lack of rain in our land? Certainly No!
As the nation is currently in the state of anomie, it is high time that the citizens of this great country resort to genuine prayers and ask God for mercy for our nation. Two, It is also time for our country’s patriotic leaders and president Tinubu to humble themselves and give an invitation to the prophet whom God has inspirationally revealed the true state of affairs of our country and what the nation holds forth. I strongly believe that by so doing the nation will get out of the woods.
