Prof.Stephen Ocheni Mourns the Loss of a Shining Star: Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi
Professor (Chief) Stephen Ikani Ocheni, the Omachi-Atta Igala and former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has expressed deep grief and shock over the passing of retired Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, a former Chief of Defence Staff. Admiral Ogohi died in a private hospital in Abuja on Sunday.
Professor Ocheni praised the late Admiral as a man of great wisdom, integrity, courage, and discipline, who served the Nigerian Armed Forces with excellence and dedication. He described him as a “soldier of soldiers” and “General of Generals.”
The Igala Kingdom has lost a prominent son, who brought recognition and leadership to the kingdom through his attainment of the rank of four-star General. Professor Ocheni commiserates with the government and people of Kogi state, particularly the Igala Kingdom, and condoles with the deceased’s family, praying for God’s comfort and eternal rest for the soul of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi.
Admiral Ogohi’s illustrious career in the Nigerian Navy spanned several decades, during which he held various high-ranking positions. He was the first Naval officer to be appointed Chief of Defence Staff, a testament to his exceptional leadership and strategic prowess.
Professor Ocheni recalled the late Admiral’s contributions to the development of the Nigerian Navy, noting that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations of military personnel. He also acknowledged Admiral Ogohi’s commitment to the Igala Kingdom, where he served as a role model and mentor to many young people.
As a mark of respect, Professor Ocheni called on the government and people of Kogi state to honor Admiral Ogohi’s memory by continuing his legacy of service and dedication to the nation. He also urged the Igala Kingdom to celebrate his life and achievements, which had brought pride and honor to the kingdom.
