BRIEF ABOUT HON. SUNDAY SHIGABA, LEADING ASPIRANT, STATE CHAIRMAN, PDP KOGI STATE CHAPTER: His Contributions, achievement so far in the Party.


 

1. He is from Bassa LGA
2. He holds a BSc in Sociology at BAYERO UNIVERSITY, KANO, 1994.

3. From 1997 – 98, Hon. Shigaba was elected as COUNCILLOR for Akakana/Ayede Ward and equally doubled as SUPERVISORY COUNCILLOR FOR HEALTH & MEDICAL SERVICES; Bassa LGA Council.
4. Hon Shigaba became the first Candidate to Contest Election in Bassa under PDP at it’s formation during the December 5th 1998 Local Council Election.
5. By 2004 – 2005, Hon. Shigaba served as Chairman, Bassa Transport Services (BTS).
6. In 2007, he became COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, Bassa LGA.
7. Hon. Shigaba has served two terms in office as Kogi State Bassa Constituency House of Assembly MEMBER spanning from 2011 – 2019. In the House of Assembly, due to his sincerity, competence and intelligence, he served in so many capacities among which include;

a. DEPUTY MAJORITY LEADER
b. ACTING MAJORITY LEADER
c. Lastly, Minority Whip when majority was dramatically forced into minority in the House.

*SHIGABA’S OUTSTANDING POLITICAL ADVENTURES IN A TURBULENT POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT:*

Politics has never been a smooth sailing adventure for Hon. Sunday Shigaba, but his courage, sincerity and believe in what’s right and his knowledge of what politics entails has kept him going and sailing higher. As a faithful PDP Leader, Hon. Shigaba has played and still playing a key role in the successes of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Bassa LGA. Hence, it is worthy of mention that;

I. He once resisted all pressures to move to Ruling party while in Office as House Member and after office.

II. Under his leadership, he delivered Bassa during 2019 Presidential Election where only two (2) LGA’s (Omala & Bassa) out of nine (9) LGA’s in Kogi East Senatorial District did, and equally delivered the Party, PDP in all other elections – Rep, Senate & Governorship.

III. In the Same manner, in 2023 only three (Bassa, Omala & Ibaji) out of 9 LGA’s in the District (Kogi East) delivered PDP for presidential, Senate & Reps.

IV. Finally, during the just conducted State Assembly Election in Kogi State, under his leadership, Bassa Local Government became the only LGA in Kogi East, where we have nine (9) LGA’s that produced an Assembly Member under PDP, and one of the only two (2) in the entire State.

Therefore, the records are here, Hon. Shigaba’s credentials cannot be equalled. It is a clear indication that he has really stood firm and contributed meritoriously for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Kogi State and the country at large. Indeed, Kogi State PDP needs a man that can reposition and rescue the Party and Hon. Shigaba is that man.
