Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku: A Competent, Compassionate and Humble Leader

Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku is a man of proven competence, impeccable character, and a spotless reputation. As the Chief of Staff of Kogi State, he has demonstrated his exceptional leadership qualities and has achieved verifiable accomplishments. However, it is his compassionate nature and his exceptional humanitarian acts that set him apart as a unique leader deserving of being the next governor of Kogi State.

During his tenure as the Director-General of Protocol, he established the “Asuku Health Reach” project, which ensured that ailing citizens of Kogi State could access healthcare facilities regardless of their financial capabilities. The project, in collaboration with other foundations, sponsored eye surgeries for 230 persons. This act of magnanimity brought smiles and renewed hope to the ailing yet impoverished citizens, who otherwise would have been left in the cold hands of fate.

Pharm. Asuku’s simplicity and accessibility are some of his outstanding attributes. He never shut his doors and is always ready to listen to all and help in any way he can. He has put an end to the incessant cries and complaints of members of staff of local government regarding unjust omission of names from government payroll. This achievement has placed him above his peers.

Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku also understands that youth empowerment is vital to curbing the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other vices bedevilling the society. He has been actively involved in facilitating the appointment of youth across the three senatorial districts of Kogi state into key governmental positions within the state. He has sponsored many youths to learn their desired skills through his foundation, PAAYEF (Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation), which consists of various arms ranging from health, education to empowerment.

The educational arm of PAAYEF was able to pay WAEC fees, tuition fees and gave grants for various professional development. PAAYEF also organized interschool competitions with a grand finale which took place in the state capital, Lokoja. The theme of the competition was “reviving the glory of education” which was geared towards rejuvenating the passion for education in the minds of students.

Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku also empowered the aged through his penny-wise program and ensured they get free medical checkups as he is well aware that old age comes with different health challenges. He is neither a tribal nor a religious bigot and has been fair in his dealings with people of various tribes, faiths or religions. His slogan has always been “Humanity first”.

In conclusion, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku is a competent, compassionate, and humble leader. He has proven himself beyond mere words, and his achievements speak for themselves. Asuku is a unique leader that deserves the opportunity to serve as the next governor of Kogi State.
