The Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. David Umahi has order the State Commissioner of police CP Faleye Sunday Olaleye and other security agencies to demobilized anybody irrespective of political parties caught with unauthorized guns or attempted to carry ballot boxes in all the nooks and crannies of the State and as well fish out the bandits who said there would be no election in the State.
The Governor gave the order during a broadcast in his office at the new Government house Abakaliki.
According to the Governor: “this is the order of Mr President and I am enforcing it here”
“I am appealing to security agents to deal decisively with anyone irrespective of political parties that attempted to cause violence or seen with guns illegally nor tearing of posters, billboards. I want security agencies to be fair to everyone”
The Governor also appealed to the security agents to dealt with anybody that dished out fake news to cause violence and ensure violence free, fair and credible elections and appealed everyone to be law abiding citizens in their own interest.
The Governor called on the people of the State to come out enmass on February 25th and March 11 2023 respectively and exercise their franchise by voting the candidates of their choice without fear of molestation.
The Governor further directed that two security outfits recently signed into law, neighborhood watch fashioned after Anambra Neighborhood watch and Ebonyi State Vigilante Corps fashioned after Amotekun of South West, Nigeria to begin operations to safeguard Ebonyi people from insecurity and clarified that the outfits would not participate in the elections.
He appealed to the relevant stakeholders of the State to respect zoning arrangements of APC and vote massively in the general elections for peace and stability of the State.
“How will it sound after Abakaliki block respected us and voted against their son in 2015 out of justice, equity and fairness, how will it sound for somebody from Ebonyi South in fact my cousin brother and friend to take Governorship seat after me. It doesn’t sound right”
“It is not ticket that based on justice, equity and fair play and that is not the ticket that is going to build the State. It is very wrong, the popular choice is for the circle to start again from Ebonyi North zone and this is very important. I appeal to our people to look at this critically and this broadcast shall be documented and its references shall be made tomorrow for those who may want to underrate or undermine it. I spoke of God and not on my own”
“It is very dangerous for Community not to take this zoning into consideration. It is also very bad for people to begin to vie what does not do for them, if all positions is opened for contest it will create greater tension and animosity” he concluded
