Kogi Central: PDP Suspends Former Natasha’s Campaign Spokesperson, Godwin Itopa


 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the former Head of Media, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Organization, Godwin Itopa from the party.

This was made known in a letter dated February 6, 2023, and signed by the Ward Chairman of Eika-Ohizenyi, Ajoge Yakubu.

The letter disclosed that Mr. Itopa was suspended from the party after the executive committee of PDP in Eika-Ohizenyi Ward received several petitions against him bothering on anti-party activities.

According to the letter, the suspension will last for one month while a committee set up to look into the allegations report their findings.

The letter also noted that if found culpable of the allegations of anti-party activities, the offence is punishable under paragraph 59 (a-g) of the party’s constitution.

The letter reads:

“The Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party, Eika Ohizenyi – Ward receives several petitions bothering on anti-party activities against you. As you are aware, allegations of this nature, if successfully substantiated, constitute an offense under Paragraph 58(f) of our Constitution and are punishable under Paragraph 59(a-g) of the same.

“Given the foregoing, we have set up a committee to look into the allegations against you and report their findings to us accordingly. In this regard, you shall be receiving an invite from the Committee to enable you to defend yourself if you wish.

“In the interim, we are constrained to place you on a one (1) month suspension with effect from the 6th day of February 2023 to enable the Committee to carry out their assignments as regards the petition against you”, the letter stated.

Recall that Mr. Itopa recently resigned from his position as the Head of the Media Committee, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Organization over what he termed as personal reasons.
