The Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta has applauded INEC Chairman, Muhammad Yakubu for assuring Nigerians that the February 25th general election will hold as scheduled.
The Spokesman of RINPD, CSP Ebikebina Orubiri Rtd disclosed this in a press statement signed by the National President, Comrade Toluwa Mulade and made available to Newsmen in Benin City .
This is coming after INEC boss, Mohammed Yakubu’s address at Chartham house in UK where the Chairman assured the World that despite attacks on INEC properties , the commission is prepared to conduct the Feb. General Election.
According to the statement, INEC boss have displayed a high degree of preparedness ahead of the general election and have raised the confidence of Nigerians in ensuring that the election would be free , fair and transparent.
” As a group that has championed Peace movement and security in Riverine areas in Niger Delta, we are ready to collaborate with INEC and security agencies to ensure election is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere in Riverine areas”.
He said ,”As long as INEC has assured us that the election will hold, we will support to ensure that the general election is peaceful in Niger Delta”.
Comrade Toluwa Mulade however charged Nigerians to ensure they participate in the forthcoming election and vote wisely.
