As the Igala most popular festival is revived, there have been various calls for unity and love among Igala sons and daughters, both at home and in diaspora.
This was the consensus of speakers at the Italo festival at Anyigba on Saturday.
Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Doctor Usman Ogbo Salisu said only unity can move the area forward.
Doctor Ogbo Salisu said the revival of Italo was a remarkable development, noting that it has a multiplier effect.
According to him, the Italo festival is expected to be a period of stock taking, urging the Igala people to beem their searchlight on the politcians.
In his words “it is not only when you want to contest election that you meet the people or give promises, rather, you should tell the people what and what you have been able to achieve for your people, most especially on infrastructure, human capital development among others”.
The Rector urged the people to carefully examine the political class, stressing that politicians should see themselves as one, imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and move the Kingdom forward.
Doctor Ogbo Salisu congratulated the people of the Kingdom for witnessing another Italo after eleven years and prayed for its sustainance.
On his part, the Okwo Attah Igala, Alhaji Friday Idachaba stated that the revival of Italo was a welcome development and praised the Attah Igala for taking the bold step.
Alhaji Friday enjoined the Igala people to remain as one big family, noting that love and peace was needed for the attainment of the desired growth in the kingdom.
In the same vein, Chief Bamayi Negedu emphasized the need for love and unity among the people, noting that nothing should be allowed to divide the people who have lived for long as one big family.
