Following the unprecedented flood disaster that ravaged Kogi State, Ibaji Local government Area which was the worst hit has continued to receive empathy and different forms of support from well meaning Nigerians and Organizations.

At the weekend, the former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni was at the Palace of the Ejeh lbaji, Chief John Egwemi to sympathise with the Royal father and the people of the Local Government on the disaster.
Present at the EJEH’s palace were the Executive Chairman of Ibaji Local Government, the President and Secretary of Ibaji Development Association and other community leaders from Ibaji local government.
Prof. Stephen Ocheni tasked the Federal Government to find appropriate measures to halt the perennial flooding in Ibaji Local Government Area and other parts of Kogi state.
The former Minister who expressed concern over the devastating effect of the flood on the economic and social activities of the people of Ibaji, stated that the disaster also has adverse affects on other neighbouring Local Government and States in the Country.
Professor Stephen Ocheni commended the Kogi state Government for the step taken to alleviate the hardship faced by those whose farmland and other valuable property were lost to the flood disaster.
The former Minister announced a donation of one million Naira on behalf of himself and his wife, Her Excellency, Ambassador Regina Ocheni,Ph.D, to the victims of the incident in Ibaji Local Government Area.
The Ejeh Ibaji who is also the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Traditional Council, Chief John Egwemi joined the former Minister in appealing to the Federal Government to construct dams and dredging of the Rivers Niger and Benue to forstal future flooding in the Country.
Chief Egwemi expressed sadness on the disaster, which he described as the worst in the area in recent times.
The EJEH Ibaji commended the former Minister, Professor Stephen Ocheni for the solidarity visit, and his donation of one million Naira to victims of the disaster in Ibaji local Government Area.
