The Kogi State executives of one of the fastest growing Political Party in Nigeria, the National Rescue Movement on Thursday 10th November 2022 held a marathon meeting to brainstorm on the way forward ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The meeting which was held at the Party’s temporary state office,Papinda Hotel and resort became necessary to fine tune the party’s programmes ahead of the election in Kogi State.
State Chairperson of the party who oversee proceedings welcomed everyone present and also seriously harped on the need for the state excutives, Candidates and teeming supporters across the State to be United, more proactive and move together as one big family especially as the general elections draws near.She said the Success of NRM in the state will largely depend on how the Executives, Candidates ands members work to project the Party.
Members and Candidates present at the meeting bare their minds out on various salient issues that needs to be properly addressed before the elections in 2023.These include members working and moving together as a team for the success of the party in the State, rallying round candidates at all level in the State, Opening of a bank account for the state chapter of the Party and the need to discourage members especially candidates from tarnishing the image of the party.
The State Secretary of the party Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim Dangana who registered his disdain at the activities of the Kogi East Senatorial Candidate Said as a Political Party, everyone should close ranks and project the image of the party in good light and not going outside the circle to align with candidates of other political parties without the knowledge and approval of the larger house.
He however advice all Candidates to move along with the State Executives in their dealings outside to avoid rubbishing the hard earned reputation the party has and still trying to build.
He however showered encomium on Alhaji Bala Abdulghafar Dirisu, Kogi West Senatorial Candidate of the Party for his believe in the party, activities so far especially the recent palliative he shared to flood victims in the state capital, show love and care in providing the Party with an office.He advice others to follow in his footsteps by emulating his kind nature and good deeds which he said has earned him an appreciable percentage of support across Kogi Western Senatorial district.
The state Treasurer of the party,Comrade Daniel Onuche updated the house on how far he has gone with the account Opening promising that very shortly,the party will have a functional and active account with one of the leading commercial banks in the state.He also frowned at the activities of some Candidates and Party executives saying it doesn’t portray the National Rescue Movement in good light and that those culpable should desist from negative attitudes.
Candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Koto federal house of representatives Honourable Godwin Wambebe who joined the meeting minutes after it started admonished everyone to close ranks and stay together as a family for the betterment of the party ahead of the elections.He also pointed out that it’s imperative for everyone to realize that apart from the 2023 general elections,the Kogi State gubernatorial election is also coming next year and the progress and success of the party next year depends on the seriousness of it’s executives and members across the entire 21 local government areas of the State.
The House of assembly candidate for Bassa State constuency also lend his voice by advising members especially the candidates not to be swayed or carried away by monetary offers and gains from outside as it’s capable of downgrading the reputation of the party out there.
The State Chairperson reiterated the need to bring down the hammer heavily on erring members and Candidates who refused to stick to the principles and ideologies of the party instead will want to do things outside the box and on their own.
The.meeting came to a close with the promise to henceforth make it a periodic meeting and briefing so as to keep members abreast with happenings in the party especially from the National headquarters in Abuja
