The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones has scored the
Aptitude test for Teachers Recruitment held in Kogi State which end today a huge success.
The Commissioner made the disclosure shortly after inspecting the mopping up exercise today, said about 7000 shortlisted candidates appeared for the Aptitude test.
The Commissioner said the mop up exercise that signals the end of the Aptitude test as a huge success, said the development is to accommodate all those shortlisted for the exercise but for one reason could not make it on the scheduled date.
The Commissioner said the next stage of the exercise would be the analysis of the exercise from Tuesday, said successful candidates would be made to go through an orientation course that would hold in four centres in the three Senatorial District and Lokoja the state capital.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction that the Aptitude test conducted by the State was transparent and credible, said in all, it was a huge success, attributed it to the commitment of Gov. Bello to the education sector of the State.
It would be recalled that the Commissioner had on Tuesday this week flagged off the aptitude test for those shortlisted candidates who applied for teachers recruitment in the State at the CBT Centre of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
Kogi State Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), had fixed the Aptitude Test for the shortlisted candidates to begin from Tuesday and to end last Thursday, but having discovered that some prospective candidates didn’t get sms sent to them, Friday was added to allow the shortlisted candidates to be captured with mop exercise held today Saturday.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to Gov. Yahaya Bello for making efforts to fill the vacancies existing in Kogi Schools, pointing out that the vacuum had limited against teaching.
The state government is expected to in the first batch employ successful 2000 teachers to resume in the beginning of the new session beginning August 26, with 4000 to be recruited in all at the end of the recruitment exercise, described the gesture by Gov. Bello as another milestone achievement.
Hon. Jones said previous administration had dodged the responsibility of employing teachers, stressed that Gov. Bello’s love for education, necessitated his directives to engage more teachers.
Hon. Jones said with the test, only qualified teachers would be employed, described qualified teachers as the bedrock for sustainable education as envisioned by the present administration.
The Kogi State Commissioner For Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo and the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Mrs. Cecilia Cook accompanied the Education Commissioner on the visit to inspect the mopping up exercise.
About 17,000 candidates applied for the teachers recruitment with 7000 said to have sat for the Computer Based Aptitude test.
