The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s choice of Education Commissioner will go down in history as one of the best the state ever had. One may argue that this is not Kogi state which was created in 1991, one of the few states that were created then. By application Kogi is among the last born of the states in the country but it is now a state on the lips of everyone because of the many unbelievable transformation by Governor Yahaya Bello in Educational sector and others.
John Holland in his theory of career choice claimed that both people and work environment can be categorised, and matched with other. His theory aims at categorizing people according to what type of work they are most interested or fit in, and categories of occupation under their congruence.
Hon. Wemi Jones Education sector’s accomplishments are second to none in the history of Kogi State. His capacity and philanthropic gestures as earned him multiple awards like Education Icon of the Year, Outstanding Kogi Education Commissioner, Best and most performing commissioner of the year, Key Contributor in Private Education and highlight of it all is when he was rewarded by Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) with the Integrity Icon of Nigeria(IION). No doubt, the Kogi State Education Commissioner has complete integrity and he is well known to use it to stand for what he believes is best for the majority.
However, sometimes ago there was a widespread interest and question that was germinating and growing rapidly deep down inside a lot of Kogites on why exactly this second tenure far better than the first? Well, the media has done an excellent job in giving us whichever picture or image they like. But personally, as a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning and also a student of Mass Communication, I am not to judge by saying one is better. But, there has been a lot of inspired and developmental legacy projects during the GYB New Direction administration. I reiterate Gov. Bello’s choice of Education Commissioner, Hon. Wemi Jones will go down in history as one of the best the state ever had.
Ayo Bello.
