The convergence of opinion praised the Kogi State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones for raising the bar in making the state education sector an envy of all.
What was a surprise birthday organised for the State education Commissioner, friends and well wishers described Hon. Wemi Jones as a rare gem who should be emulated in his open door policy and ensuring standard.
Speaking at the gathering, Kogi State Goverment says it is committed to sustaining its current pass rate in West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) as well as other Examinations.
The Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones noted that the State is currently ranked 14th in WAEC according to the twenty-twenty Pass Rate report behind Lagos State which ranked 13th.
According to him, the introduction of School Adoption Programme was also part of measures aimed at maintaining the pass rate of the State, saying Secondary Schools would soon wear a new look as efforts are in top gear for constructions and rehabilitations.
He expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the confidence reposed in him to serve, promising to initiate more ideas that will better the State Education Sector.
Mr. Jones thanked the Organizers of the Surprise Birthday party, which he noted would spur him to do more for God and humanity.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi described the Commissioner as a workaholic and humble man who has written his name on gold in the history of Education in the State.
According to him, the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, GYB Model Schools, Education Law, School Adoption Programme among others are legacies of th present Administration.
Media Professionals, Stakeholders in the Education sector as well as Stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress attended the party.
