In continuation of his pre election stakholders familiarisation meetings, Mr Jeremiah Oladokun a frontline aspirant for the seat of Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has met with a cross section of stakeholders from Yagba Federal Constituency drawn from different segments of the society including National Auto Technicains Association, Women Groups and Some Ward Representatives.
In his introductory remarks to the participants at the meeting, Hon Tope Ajayi (Santo) The Director General of Jeremiah Oladokun Campaign Organisation, described the aspirant as a humble, kind and complete gentleman who is diligent in his chosen career.
A Consultant to various federal ministries, He has travelled wide, delivering empowerment services to the people accross different geopolitical zones of the country, affording him a great deal of opportunity to experience realtime realities of the challenges facing the people at the grassroots and that has been the force propelling him to seek to serve his people in order to transform lives by leaveraging on opportunities he is exposed to and to uplift his people.
Meanwhile, the aspirant while addressing the meeting identified poverty induced by decaying infrastructures in Yagba land and the inability of past representatives to identify opportunities at the centre and utilize them to the benefit of the people back home as the main problem he has come to tackle if given the opportunity.
” I have discreetly toured the length and breadth of Yagba Federal Constituency,the level of poverty and want is unbelieveable, government presence is almost inexistence and infrastructural decay is pervasive.
I am sympathetic to the plight of my people and that is why i resolved to step out of my comfort zone to offer myself to serve you with what i have.”
“I am here to urge you to allow me serve you,others may have done their best,but we will continue from where they stop by introducing wealth creation” He said.
In response, a representative from NATA who spoke said they were not surprised being invited to the meeting as they have expectation of such and haven heard of the successive meetings the aspirant held with their sister unions like NURTW and Okada Riders Associatiom, they knew that they won’t be left out.
He noted that Dokun’s style of selling his political agenda to Yagba stakeholders is unprecedented and that has endeared the aspirant to the hearts of many people.
The NATA chieftain also siezed the opportunity to call the attention of the aspirant to the use and dump atitude of the successive politicians as they usually cut off communication links with his union after election. He however tabled some areas of corporate needs which the aspirant promised to look into.
On the part of the women, Hon Nike Akolade who spoke on behalf of the Noble Women Association, an umbrella women body with membership cutting across Yagba Federal Constituency, described Mr Oladokun as a valuable product that has gained a rapid popularity within the political space of Yagba Federal Constituency.
She said, his name is fast becoming a household name and thanks to positive reports they have been monitoring about his humility and kindness aside the robust agenda he has been promoting with economic empowerment of Yagba people and women in particular as the core of his programmes.
She affirmed her loyalty and commitment to Dokun’s project, pledged the support of her Association members and prayed for God’s protection and victory at the polls come 2023.
In his closing remarks, Mr Oladokun identified youth unemployment as a great problem in Yagba land and promised to tackle it .
“My Legislative Agenda will focus more on improving the economic value of the typical Yagba person by keying into various government empowerment and intervention programmes for Nigerians cutting accross each sectors of the economy to revive ailing micro enterprises, boost existing ones and support new startups to create employment for the unemployed”
“Yagba has all potentials to become the industrial hub of Kogi state, having been the forerunner in the industrilisation process and am ready to use my network of contacts to drive my economic revival agenda to turn around the present situation .Yagba shalll come back to limelight again as the real industrial hub of the state”
Polar Soft Drinks Company in Isanlu, Valley Food, Boja Plastics and Mopa Brewries are nostalgic evidence that Yagba has the potentials and I shall not be relying solely on constituency project funds to drive my agenda because knowledge is power and i know where to turn to in order to access resources needed to perform.
