The Honourable member representing Yagba Federal Constituency and the Chairman, House Committee on Customs & Excise, Hon. Leke Abejide celebrates Nigeria at its 61st independent anniversary.
In his message, Hon. Leke Abejide felicitates with fellow Nigerians at home and abroad, especially the people of Yagba Federal Constituency on the occasion of the 61st independence of our dear country, Nigeria.
“As Nigeria comes to age, with its people asserting themselves in every sphere of life across the globe there is much to be proud of as a Nigerian, let us be driven forward by our zeal to strengthen our diversity, culture and beliefs as we remain one nation bound in freedom”.
There is much to be done to fully achieve the lofty dreams that inspired our founding fathers in their brave struggles to end colonialism on our shores 61 years ago. We must never lose sight of our God-given potentials, we must be prepared to do our part in realising Nigeria’s greatness, he said.
For this generation of Nigerians, we must not waver or be discouraged by the challenges of nation-building and strengthen democracy through good governance practices that impact positively in the development of our nation which also includes equity, fairness and justice.
Therefore, let us keep in mind those dreams of our founding fathers, put our hands to the plough of nation-building and hand over to the future generations a great foundation to build on. A day to also remember our heroes and heroines of the past who bears the agonising reality of moving forward with their lives while keeping the memories of our fallen heroes alive.
“The thrust of my goodwill message today is to admonish my fellow compatriots to continue to have faith that Nigeria will be great and remain the indissoluble entity envisioned by our founding fathers”.
He said God has endowed us with all it takes to be great. It is imperative for all of us, therefore, to play our parts individually and collectively to build the nation we envision and achieve our destiny of prominence and influence on the global stage.
With our creativity, resilience, hard work and the eagle spirit, we shall surely ride the storms of these challenges to reach the height that we desire.
Hon. Leke Abejide assures the people of Yagba Federal Constituency that his representation in the ninth National Assembly will provide legislative support for every idea and initiative geared towards making Nigeria and Yagba Federal Constituency our pride home.
