
… Promises to deliver on set date and standard
The Newly constituted working team set up by Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to take over the ongoing construction work at the State Specialists Hospital Lokoja has begun work in earnest with the promise to deliver the work on set date and standard.

Recall that Gov. Bello yesterday registered his displeasure with the quality and pace of work at the Lokoja Specialist Hospital by the Chinese Construction Company.

Before now, the ongoing construction and reconstruction work at the State Specialists Hospital Lokoja was under the direct supervision of the Commissioner for Health when the Governor embarked on tour of ongoing projects in Lokoja yesterday.

Speaking with Newsmen at a Press Conference, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere said the new team is charged with the mandate to determine the contract award, work done and what needs to be done to deliver a standard Health Institution to the State.
According to the Commissioner, the State Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, would Chairman the Committee, with the Director General, Bereau of Public Procurement, Barr. Sunday Ehimony as Member, said the work would now be handled by the Ministry of Works and Housing, promised to deliver a standard Health Institution that would help check the medical Tourism needs the country is witnessing.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of Gov. Bello to ensuring quality and standard, said the new Committee is desirous in meeting the expected standard desired.
Engr. Ohere described the Governor as a passionate and dedicated Leader, promised that all the observation raised during the inspection of the project by Gov. Bello would be addressed squarely, promised that the Committee would not disappoint in the onerous task in delivering a GYB standard project.
The Commissioner said the new Committee would strengthen the exiting capacity of the ongoing construction, assured the Governor and people of the State of delivering quality project while ensuring due process.
He disclosed that the Committee would meet the December target of the Governor, assuring that the health institution like the Idah Zonal and Reference Hospital Okene, when completed would improve patronage and check medical Tourism as envisioned by Gov. Bello.
