A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon has called on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency revisit the Electronic transmission of election results bill in the country as it is the only way to get a true democracy.
Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon (aka Riceman), stated this when he visited the Peoples Democratic Party, e-registration office situated on Airport Road, Benin city.
“Modern democracy is what everyone needs in this country, so our National Assemblies should cue in and ensure that electronic transmission of results is inscribed into our electoral laws.
“The era of carrying election results by hand is out dated ,so let us follow the modern trend of electronic transmission of results.”
Imansuangbon, who use the occasion to commend the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for his proactive approach to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) e-registration process and called on Edolites all over the world to take advantage of the ongoing exercise and get registered as members.
“His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, thank you for the good job that you’re doing(as national chairman of the PDP e-registration exercise) and thank you for picking this illustrious son of ours, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto (former Speaker of the State House of Assembly) with whom I would say that we are well pleased.”
Going further, he said: “What I have seen today, I am very pleased that this registration is working.
“This is modern democracy in action. This is good for the younger generation. I call on you to aptly take advantage of what Governor Godwin Obaseki, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto and this team is doing for e-registration (in Edo State).
“It can’t be better than this. I have gone round the world – America, Europe etc. This is what’s done. You get the younger generation to drive the process.
“So, you, the younger ones, I call on you to take advantage of what PDP Abuja has done under the chairmanship of our son, the performing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki. We must pull our resources together.
“I call on all Edo sons and daughters all over the world to take advantage of this e-registration made easy(to join the PDP).”
Earlier, welcoming Barrister Imansuangbon to the office, Honourable Adjoto, who is the chairman of the Edo State PDP e-registration team, disclosed that the exercise was conceptualised to bring sanity into the party’s members registration.
He disclosed that the target of the party is to get 1million members which he said could at the end of the day be much higher, adding that Barrister Imansuangbon, a former governorship aspirant of the party, was the first caller at the Airport Road office e-registration point praying that the visitor will end up being the first in his endeavours.
Kabiru Adjoto, said the e-registration excercise is on going in the three senatorial district of the state.
