Nigerian trade union activist and labour leader Isa Obalowu Aremu has stressed the need for collaborative efforts in tackling the security challenges in the country.
Speaking at Hajia Hamdalat Abiodun Aremu NUJ 5th Annual Ramadan Lecture 2021with the theme “Security & Unity for a better Nigeria, Aremu who noted that security is agelong challenge added that all hands must on deck in Curbing it as “security is a collaborative responsibility of all”
Comrade Isa Aremu who is also the general secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and tailoring workers of Nigeria and Vice-president of the industriaAll Global Union, stressed the need to assist the government to govern well as he decried the shortage of manpower in Nigeria police force.
He reiterated the need for them to be well-equipped, well funded and well paid and the need for intelligence and to be vigilant
Aremu who also decried the high rate of unemployment in the country, urged the government to addressed the challenge with social and economic policy by providing job for the youths inorder not to engage in crime
Comrade Isa Aremu also stressed the need for the traditional rulers to be well equipped as they should also come together to assist the president in Curbing crime.
Speaking further, the guest lecturer at the event Ustadh Sulaiman Dhun-Nurain Olodon from University of Ilorin who kicked against injustice said when there is injustice there won’t be harmony, there will be insecurity
He also stressed the need for parents to know what their children are doing added that the society celebrate mediocrity as he kicked against living a hopeless life
He added that there are a lot of good work for people to do “be conscious of God that creat you, the source of insecurity is because we have turned ourselves from God, secure yourself and those that surround” he said.
He noted that what Comrade Isa Aremu has started in memory of his late wife Hajia Hamdalat Abiodun Aremu is a very big and laudable project.
