
Omala Local Government Executive Chairman, Hon. (Alh) Ibrahim Yakubu Aboh has rolled out the drum to kickstart the Special Public Works Force (SPW) programme under the auspices of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Performing the ceremony in Abejukolo, the local government headquarters, Alhaji Aboh praised the President Buhari led administration for the laudable initiative aimed at reducing poverty rate and ensuring clean environment.
The Executive Chairman further commended the effective utilisation of the NDE guidelines by Yahaya Bello led administration in the state, assured that such transparency and good leadership will be upheld at the local government level covering the entire eleven wards.
Alhaji Aboh urged the 1,000 beneficiaries selected in Omala to be dedicated to duty and advised them to utilize the #60,000 stipends that will be paid in three tranches, as he appealed to the Federal Government to, upon successful completion of the first phase of the exercise, review the programme and consider extension.
The State Coordinator of NDE, Alhaji Abubakar Zekeri expressed delight in the President Buhari’s leadership for deeming it fit to introduce poverty alleviation initiative, aimed at curbing youth restivenes and reduction in unemployment. He thank the Governor of Kogi State, H.E Alhaji Yahaya Bello for keying into the programme and for giving the directorate all the necessary support and encouragement. Alhaji Abubakar described the reception by the Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government as scitillating.
In their brief remarks, the Director of Local Government, Elder Joseph Omale and the Local Government Desk Officer of the programme, Hon. Simeon Omale hailed SPW programme, describing it as a boost to what is being done at the grassroot by the Executive Chairman in the area of Women and Youth Empowerment.
Present in the ocassion include the Local Government Secretary, Hon. Joy Odaudu, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Husseini Isah, delegation of NDE from the Federal and State level, among others.
