Kogi Council Election: Activists Lambasts KOSIEC For Failing To Release, Publish Election Result 65 Days After Polls

Executive Director
Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Lokoja, has bereted the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission for not making the results of the last December Council Election in the State public.

The Executive Director, in a statement said: “Elections are the heart beats of democracy which gives opportunity for people to make choices in electing their own leaders and representatives”.

Comr. Miliki said election result is an outcome of an activities, but lamented that the Kogi stat State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) conducted elections to the local government councils on the 12th December 2020 with no results made available to the public.

He frowned that up till date the KOSIEC has not deemed it fit to publish or release any of the announced election results 65 days after.

While pointing out that the present government in the state had refused to conduct elections in to the local government councils since it came into power on the 27 January 2016 until 12 December 2020, yet the citizens who’s taxes is being used to perform government activities can not see the the results of the election claimed to have brought the elected council officials into power.

The Executive Director says the CHRCR deemed it necessary to without further delay release the results of the local government councils elections conducted on the 12th December 2020 at the local government, poling units, and Ward by Ward levels as it has been the practice by Independent Electoral Commission, INEC that brought in the present Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
