Gov. Ododo Leads as NYCN President – Babangida, Nigerian Youths, Backs Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, declaring that his administration’s impact on the youth and student constituency is unprecedented and worthy of continuity.

The endorsement was made at the Nigeria Youth Summit on Renewed Hope Agenda held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, which drew youth leaders from the six geo-political zones of the country.

In his welcome address, NYCN President, Comr. Babangida Onimisi Isah, said the Summit with the theme “Nigerian Youth and Renewed Hope Agenda Dialogue: Assessing Impact, Unlocking Opportunities” was convened to objectively assess the Renewed Hope Agenda – three and a half years into the Tinubu administration and to bridge the gap between government policies and youth access.

Comr. Isah said the endorsement was not political but based on verifiable interventions.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s boldest youth-focused policies includes the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND, which has given over 400,000 students in tertiary institutions access to interest-free loans. The 3 Million Technical Talent 3MTT programme, aimed at making Nigeria a global hub for tech skills, the revamped Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, and the Renewed Hope Employment and Skills Acquisition initiatives that have empowered thousands of young entrepreneurs and artisans, amongst others, are some of the reasons why we are endorsing Mr. President for a second term in Office. These initiatives have restored hope and given Nigerian youths a real stake in the nation’s economy”, Babangida stressed.

The NYCN President described the Summit as non-partisan and solution-driven, noting that its highpoint would be the adoption of a Nigerian Youth Resolution that will articulate the position of over 100 million Nigerian youths on the present administration.

The Chief Host of the Summit and Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was celebrated as a youth-friendly and detribalized leader, charged Nigerian youths to move to more active participation in politics, insisting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has opened doors that young people must boldly walk through.

In his words, “The future is not tomorrow, the future is now. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown uncommon faith in the Nigerian youth. He has given us student loans where there was none, he has given us digital skills where there was despair, he has given us capital where there was frustration. It is therefore our duty to protect this hope and renew it with our votes in 2027”.

*Governor Ododo, who promised to present the Endorsement Resolution and lead the Nigerian youths to Mr. President in no distant time,* reaffirmed Kogi State’s commitment to youth inclusion – citing his administration’s deliberate appointment of youths into strategic positions.

After robust deliberations, keynote addresses, panel discussions, and breakout sessions at the Summit, NYCN acknowledges the Impact of President Tinubu, passed Vote of Confidence in him, endorsed him for Second Term and promised her Commitment to Mobilization.

The body also pledged her unalloyed loyalty and support to the Government and people of Nigeria.
