Federated Chapel of Kogi NUJ Mourns Passing Of Veteran Journalist Idris Ahmed Nasarawa.

The Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council, has expressed deep shock and profound sadness over the passing of Idris Ahmed, fondly known and called Nassarawa, a reporter with the Daily Monitor.

In a condolence message signed by the Chairman of the Federated Chapel, Abu Micheal, the Union described the death of Idris Ahmed as not just the loss of a member of the NUJ, but the loss of a brother, a colleague and a vital part of the NUJ family we have built together over the years. His departure, the Chapel noted, leaves a vacuum that words alone cannot fill.

Abu Micheal said the cherished moments Nassarawa shared with members of the Chapel and the larger journalism family in Kogi State will be greatly missed, recalling his warm camaraderie, humility and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the profession.

The Federated Chapel described the late Idris Ahmed as a very intelligent and dependable media professional whose ink helped shape opinions aimed at a better society. He was a quiet but penetrating writer, a man of uncommon integrity who reported with fairness, balance and a deep sense of responsibility to the public good.

According to the statement, Idris Ahmed passed away after a long and difficult battle with illness, a battle he fought with courage and dignity to the very end.

The Chapel said it deeply mourns his death and stands in solidarity with his immediate family, the Daily Monitor Newspapers, Correspondents Chapel and the entire Kogi State Council of the NUJ at this painful time.

“We have lost a diligent colleague who believed in journalism as a tool for development and social justice. His dedication to truth and his gentle disposition will remain indelible in our hearts. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljanat Firdaus,” the statement added.

The Federated Chapel prayed for the repose of his soul and asked God to grant his family, friends and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
