WWT DEFENDS KARIMI WARNS MISCHIEF MAKERS

WWT DEFENDS KARIMI WARNS MISCHIEF MAKERS

The Win With Tinubu (WWT) grassroots mobilisation program designed for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and other candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State has defended Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Senator representing Kogi West on his inspiring remarks at the just concluded Dekina / Bassa Federal Constituency Town Hall Meeting.

The Mobilization Program made this known in a press statement issued by its State Program Coordinator, Hon. Sani Philips in Lokoja on Sunday.

Sani stated that at the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency meeting which held on 15th October 2026 at M&G Hotel, Anyigba, the 6th in the series, Senator Karimi *responded* adequately to questions during the interactive session concerning what the Federal Government was doing with the savings accruing from the removal of the petroleum subsidy.

Senator Karimi explained that a substantial portion of the increased funds available to the Federation through the removal of fuel subsidy was being distributed through statutory allocations to the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.

His explanation was simple, logical, and unmistakable: the purpose of making more resources available to the different tiers of government is to improve the lives of Nigerians, especially at the grassroots.

That was an explanation of the fiscal implications of federal revenue allocation. It was not an attack or an accusation against the Kogi State Government and was certainly not a call for citizens to rise against their elected government.

Any interpretation suggesting otherwise is a deliberate departure from the context and substance of his remarks.

The Senator discussed the broader national framework of revenue allocation and the economic justification advanced for the Federal Government’s reforms. He was not delivering a verdict on the performance of any state government.

The Win With Tinubu (WWT) Grassroots Mobilization Program for Kogi State, unequivocally rejects any attempt by mischief makers to distort, misrepresent, and politically weaponise the remarks of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi at the just concluded Dekina / Bassa WWT Town Hall Meeting.

We consider the failed attempt to twist a straightforward explanation of federal revenue allocation into a controversy against the Kogi State Government not only mischievous but also a disservice to responsible political discourse, public enlightenment, and the collective pursuit of development.

Sen. Karimi stated that the increased allocations accruing to states and local governments should translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens: better roads, functional schools, accessible healthcare, improved security, timely payment of salaries and pensions, agricultural development, and expanded economic opportunities.

Karimi further stated categorically that citizens of Kogi State should stop blaming the federal government on poverty, rather they should hold the state government accountable by ensuring that the huge allocations accruing to the state from federal allocations translate into better standards of living for the grassroots.

On this note, it is *pertinent* to ask how an explanation of increased federal allocations became an insult to any state government? How can a call for improved public welfare become an incitement against the very institutions charged with delivering that welfare?

For the avoidance of doubt, Win With Tinubu categorically states that Senator Karimi’s remarks were not intended to ridicule, embarrass, undermine, or incite the people of Kogi State against their government.

Our commitment is to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the progress of Kogi State, the welfare of our people, and the unity of the APC family.

It is therefore regrettable that individuals would seek to divert public attention from the substance of the meeting by manufacturing a narrative of hostility between the Senator and the Kogi State Government.

We urge all stakeholders, party faithful, media practitioners, and members of the public to assess the Senator’s remarks in their proper context rather than rely on selective quotations, speculative interpretations, or narratives designed to provoke needless controversy.

The Win With Tinubu (WWT) Grassroots Mobilization Program for Kogi State remains committed to its mission of promoting public understanding of President Tinubu’s policies, communicating the administration’s achievements, mobilising grassroots support, and advancing the collective interests of the APC in Kogi State.

We therefore call on those circulating misleading interpretations of Senator Karimi’s remarks to desist forthwith from further misrepresentation. We equally encourage our supporters to remain calm, disciplined, and focused, refusing to be drawn into unnecessary confrontations.

The people of Kogi State deserve facts, not manufactured controversy; enlightenment, not deliberate confusion; and unity of purpose, not needless political hostility.

The Dekina / Bassa town hall meeting was convened to strengthen grassroots engagement, promote political unity, explain the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration, and mobilise support for the President’s second-term ambition and the collective electoral objectives of the APC.

The Win With Tinubu Grassroots Mobilization Program for Kogi State remains focused, resolute, and united in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and mobilising support for the continued progress of Nigeria and Kogi State.

@WWT: you win, i win, we win: # WinWin

Let’s Win Together!
