The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Pharmacy Department has commemorated the World Pharmacists Day on Friday, 25 September 2026, with the theme “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures.”
Led by the Head of Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Edith Yovwin, the team embarked on a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, to highlight the indispensable role pharmacists play in optimizing patient care and ensuring medication safety.
UBTH DCMAC Research and Ethics, Prof. Adebola Ehizele, received the delegation on behalf of the Chief Medical Director and thanked them for the engagement.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu commended pharmacists for their invaluable contributions to quality healthcare services globally and specifically within UBTH.
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the vital contributions of pharmacists to quality healthcare delivery, providing health education, and contributing to research and innovation.
The World Pharmacists Day is celebrated annually on September 25 to honor the crucial contributions pharmacists make to global health, medication safety, and patient care.
