By joshua Kogi NLC Mourns Former Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Says We Lost A Rare Icon
Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says the demise of former Governor of the State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris is a big loss to the State.
Chairman of the Council, Comrade Gabriel Amari in a statement in Lokoja on Monday noted that the late former Governor remained one of the few best who impacted on the lives of workers.
According to him, workers fared well under his administration, citing the implementation of relativity and minimum wage, both within a period of six months as one that can never be forgotten.
Comrade Amari said the news came with a rude shock as the former Governor will always be remembered for his good works, both to workers, non workers , the political class and the entire citizens of the state.
He also described the legacy projects of the former Governor as outstanding, stressing that such projects will remain indelible marks of the Ibro administration.
“We got the news with shock, shock because we felt it was sudden, so sudden because of his person, he died at a time when his wise counsels are mostly needed, as an elder statesman and former Governor, we really need his wise counsels. Well, we as Labour are consoled because his legacy projects will always speak for him. The Ibro water, the Housing Estates, the Specialist Hospital, roads, hospitals, workers welfare, etc are there to speak for him. God knows the best and we pray that God Almighty will rest his soul, Amen ” Comrade Amari remarked.
Comrade Amari commiserated with the government and people of Kogi State, the workers, the immediate family and the people of Kogi East on the painful loss.
The NLC Chairman appealed to leaders to always see death as a necessary end for all mortals, adding that the only way to do this is by doing good and laying worthy legacies.
