The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Kabba/Bunu State Constituency II in the 2027 General Elections, Hon. Matthew Oloruntoba, has been honoured with two prestigious awards by Democracy Newsline Newspaper in recognition of his contributions to community development, youth engagement and political service.
Oloruntoba was billed to receive the Community Development Service Award and the Young Politician of the Year Award during the 16th Public Lecture and Induction Ceremony organised by Democracy Newsline Newspaper in commemoration of the 27 years of interrupted democracy in Nigeria and held recently in Abuja. However, he could not attend the ceremony due to circumstances beyond his control.
Consequently, the management of the newspaper decided to present the awards to him at a separate ceremony on September 20, 2026.
The awards, according to the organisers, were conferred on Oloruntoba in recognition of his demonstrated commitment to the development of his community, support for grassroots initiatives and growing participation in political and public affairs.
Presenting the awards on behalf of the management, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Oloruntoba had distinguished himself through his contributions to community development and active participation in the political process, particularly in promoting issues affecting young people and the wider community.
The newspaper noted that the recognition was also aimed at encouraging young Nigerians who are making meaningful contributions to society and participating actively in leadership and democratic development.
Speaking after receiving the awards, Hon. Matthew Oloruntoba expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Democracy Newsline Newspaper for finding him worthy of the honours.
He described the awards as a call to greater service, stressing that the recognition would further motivate him to contribute to the development of his community and support initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people.
Oloruntoba dedicated the awards to his supporters, community members and all those who have continued to encourage his efforts in public service and community development.
The recognition adds Oloruntoba to the growing list of individuals honoured by Democracy Newsline Newspaper for outstanding contributions to community development, leadership, public service and democratic advancement.
