The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has mourned the passing of former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, CON.
In a condolence message personally signed by him, Engr. Gegu said he received with deep shock and profound sadness the news of the death of the former governor who died today in the United Kingdom at the age of 77.
“This is a painful loss not only to his immediate family but to the entire Kogi State. Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, fondly called Ibro, was a father to all, a seasoned businessman turned politician who served Kogi State diligently from 2003 to 2012 and laid a solid foundation for the development we all enjoy today.
As one of the longest-serving governors in the history of our dear state, his legacies in politics, business and humanitarian service will remain indelible. He was a man of peace, a unifier and a mentor to many of us coming behind him,” he stated.
On behalf of his family, his team and the good people of Kogi Local Government Area, the Commissioner extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late former governor, the people of Idah, the Government and people of Kogi State and all Kogites.
He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and gives his family and the entire state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
