Kogi Water Resources Commissioner, Engr. Farouk Felicitates Solid Minerals Commissioner, Engr. Bashir Gegu @ 47

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, has felicitated with his counterpart, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Chief Engr. Abubakar Mohammed Bashir Gegu, on the occasion of his 47th birthday anniversary.

In a goodwill message issued on Friday, Engr. Farouk described Engr. Bashir Gegu as an accomplished technocrat and a distinguished public servant whose transition from engineering practice into public service exemplifies how professional competence, discipline and dedication can be deployed for nation building.

He noted that since assuming office as Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashir Gegu has brought renewed vigour, innovation and technical depth to the management of Kogi State’s vast mineral resources, which place the state among the most richly endowed in Nigeria.

Engr. Farouk particularly commended his colleague’s leadership in strengthening regulatory frameworks for the mining sector, curbing illegal mining activities, improving revenue assurance, and fostering a more sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship between government, investors and host communities.

He said these responsibilities have been further reinforced by Engr. Bashir Gegu’s role as Chairman of the State Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee, MI-REMCO, where he has provided effective coordination between federal, state and community stakeholders in ensuring responsible mining and environmental compliance.

According to the Water Resources Commissioner, Engr. Bashir Gegu has demonstrated uncommon capacity in aligning the administration’s policy thrust of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on natural resource governance with global best practices in environmental sustainability, community development and investor confidence.

Beyond his official duties, Engr. Farouk also lauded the celebrant’s deep grassroots connection and humanitarian interventions. He highlighted Engr. Bashir Gegu’s consistent support for education through scholarships and learning materials, healthcare outreaches, youth and women empowerment programmes, and his continued developmental support for his home community, Gegu-Beki, surrounding communities in Kogi Local Government Area and Kogi State at large.

He described the Solid Minerals Commissioner as a bridge builder, a loyal party man and a dependable ally in the Ododo administration’s quest to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State.

“On behalf of myself, my family and the good people of Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency, I join friends, associates and well-wishers to celebrate an exceptional engineer, a selfless leader and a man of great compassion on his 47th birthday. Chief Engr. Bashir Gegu has distinguished himself as a technocrat in public service and as a philanthropist at heart,” Engr. Farouk stated.

He prayed for the celebrant’s continued good health, wisdom, strength and divine protection, and wished him greater accomplishments, more impactful years and elevated service to Kogi State and Nigeria.

He expressed confidence that the years ahead would bring more milestones for the celebrant as he continues to contribute his quota to the development of Kogi State and the actualization of the Renewed Hope and consolidation agenda of the Ododo administration.
