Senator Umeh Delivers New Urology Centre at UNIZIK Neni Campus

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, Ohamadike Ndigbo, has completed a new urology centre at the Neni campus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, in a move set to strengthen healthcare delivery within the institution and its host community, Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.

According to a statement by the Ohamadike Media Team, “The newly completed facility comprises eight rooms and six toilets, purpose-built to provide specialized urological consultation, diagnosis, training for students, and treatment for the surrounding community, given the value and quality of the equipment already on ground.”

“The centre is expected to boost medical tourism in Anambra Central,” the statement added.

The project adds to Senator Umeh’s growing list of constituency development initiatives across Anambra Central, where he has consistently sponsored and delivered infrastructure spanning healthcare, education, road construction, and rural electrification since assuming office as the representative of the senatorial district. Healthcare interventions, in particular, have remained a recurring priority in his legislative agenda, underscoring a sustained commitment to improving access to quality medical services within the district.

Beyond its immediate use, the new centre is expected to significantly ease pressure on existing health facilities by offering a dedicated space for urological care, thereby reducing the need for patients to seek specialist treatment in distant hospitals.

Apart from infrastructure development, Senator Umeh has also continued to invest in human capital through educational support programmes. On Thursday, 5 September 2024, he awarded scholarships to six outstanding undergraduates from Neni Community to support their university education and promote academic excellence.

The statement listed the beneficiaries of Senator Umeh’s scholarship scheme from Neni community as Chukwudeme Ukamaka Perpetua, Banking and Finance, UNIZIK, Awka; Mgbemena Chibuonu Favour, Anatomy, UNIZIK, Awka; Muokee Daniella Mmesoma, Food Science and Technology, UNIZIK, Awka; Okelom Chukwuma Christian, Computer Science, UNIZIK, Awka; Onuorah Noahlyne Chinenye, Mass Communication, UNIZIK, Awka; and Ubah Chisom Anastasia, Medical Laboratory Technology, SMLT Iyienu Ogidi, Anambra State.

Reflecting on the impact of the newly completed medical facility, the Ohamadike Media Team stated, “Ndi Neni now has a Urology Centre—a testament to what responsive representation can achieve.”
