EHIMONY CALLS FOR ODODO’S SECOND TERM, EMPOWERS 100 WOMEN IN LOKOJA 2 WITH N50,000 EACH

EHIMONY CALLS FOR ODODO’S SECOND TERM, EMPOWERS 100 WOMEN IN LOKOJA 2 WITH N50,000 EACH

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief David Ehimony, has urged the people of Kogi State to give Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo all the necessary support to secure a second term in office, describing the Governor’s performance as unprecedented and worthy of continuity.

Chief Ehimony made the call on Saturday during an empowerment program for women of Lokoja 2 State Constituency, held at the GYB Model School, Felele, Lokoja. He described the gesture as a token of appreciation to women for their years of loyalty to the APC, and as his formal way of integrating into the party after recently joining. He said the intervention was also aimed at strengthening the efforts of Sunday Ehimony, Esq, Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement, who has consistently carried the burden of empowering the people of Lokoja 2. According to him, the support was to give the Director General more strength to do more for the people, describing him as a shining light.

Speaking further on why Governor Ododo deserves another term, Chief Ehimony argued that continuity is a democratic norm at all levels of government. He asked why Councilors, Assembly Members, House of Representatives members, and Senators are given second term mandates, yet Governor Ododo who has demonstrated unprecedented leadership and performance should be denied the same. He described a second term for the Governor as natural, given the administration’s strides in the last few years in civil service reforms, prompt payment of pensions, tackling insecurity, provision of free education, and massive infrastructure development across the state. He cited the ongoing construction of the Kogi State Airport, the Audit House and Treasury House as projects that underscore the administration’s commitment to development.

Chief Ehimony further announced that youth and men empowerment programs would commence very soon as part of his collaboration with other party stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Lokoja LGA. He urged women to adopt “Ododo’s Second Term” as their new slogan and take the message to every community they go to. He described his coming into the APC as an addition to the party and said the administration of Governor Ododo has been rewarding in all aspects of the state’s socio-economic development.

In his remarks, Sunday Ehimony, Esq. described Chief David Ehimony’s entry into the APC as timely and strategic ahead of 2027, and said it was an indication that he is fully ready for the second term of Governor Ododo. He declared the Governor’s second term non-negotiable, and pointed to the administration’s performance in the Civil service, Pension payment, Security, Education and Infrastructure Development as justification.

He also appealed to those agitating for the governorship of the state to wait for the appropriate time when it will be rife for them to seek the office.

Also speaking, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu, Chairman, Lokoja LGA, commended Governor Ododo for the N1 billion and N1.5 billion agricultural empowerment programs that allow farmers to use produce as collateral after harvest, a feat he said had never been witnessed in Lokoja LGA. In his words, whoever does good deserves a reward, called on the people to unite behind Governor Ododo’s second term mandate.

Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam, APC Leader, Lokoja LGA, described the empowerment by Chief David Ehimony as a symbolic gesture of identifying with APC members in Lokoja LGA. He said it aligns with Governor Ododo’s administration’s vision of always wanting to identify with everyone in the state. The former Speaker added that Chief Ehimony’s identification with the women who have always voted for the APC, especially ahead of the October Local Government and other forthcoming elections, was his way of saying thank you for their unwavering support.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of N50,000 each to about 100 women from across Lokoja 2 State Constituency. In their remarks, the beneficiaries thanked Governor Ododo for creating the enabling environment and praised the initiative of Chief David Ehimony, assuring of their resolve to support the APC in the forthcoming elections. The occasion also featured special renditions by different cultural and music groups.
