By joshua Gov Otu Hails CDI Undiandeye at 58 as Pride of C’RIVER
Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has described the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Akomaye Parker Undiandeye, as a quintessential soldier, accomplished intelligence chief and illustrious son of the state, whose life exemplifies courage, honour and distinguished service.
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Linus Obogo, to mark Parker’s 58 birthday, Governor Otu said the General’s remarkable ascent from Bedia in Cross River State to the commanding heights of Nigeria’s defence and intelligence architecture was “a stirring testament to the triumph of discipline, courage, intellectual rigour and an unyielding devotion to duty.”
The governor said the Chief of Defence Intelligence had, through years of meritorious service and distinguished national and international assignments, etched his name “in the noble tradition of military excellence and patriotic sacrifice,” earning the admiration of Nigerians and the pride of his home state.
Otu noted that Undiandeye’s elevation to the rank of Lieutenant General, as well as the rare distinction of becoming the first occupant of the office of Chief of Defence Intelligence to be decorated as a three-star general, were fitting tributes to “a career adorned with competence, strategic vision and uncommon professionalism.”
“As the 17th Chief of Defence Intelligence, you continue to bring to the onerous task of safeguarding our nation a rare blend of intellect, experience, calm leadership and strategic foresight,” the governor said, adding that the intelligence chief’s leadership had further underscored the importance of professionalism and dedication in the service of the nation.
Governor Otu further described the senior military officer as a source of immense pride to the people of Cross River State and an inspiration to younger generations, saying his illustrious career affirmed that “greatness is the inevitable reward of preparation, perseverance and fidelity to noble ideals.”
The governor offered prayers for the continued well-being and success of the defence chief, saying: “As you celebrate another glorious year, I pray that Almighty God will continually surround you with divine favour and protection, renew your strength for the demanding tasks ahead, and crown your path with greater wisdom, honour and enduring accomplishments in service to our beloved nation.”
“May your days be long, your health remain robust, and your illustrious career continue to soar to even loftier heights,” Otu said, as he congratulated Undiandeye on behalf of the Government and good people of Cross River State, wishing him “many more years of fulfilment, distinction and abiding grace.” He added:
“Happy Birthday, my brother, General Undiandeye. You are indeed, a soldier of courage, a patriot of uncommon distinction and a shining beacon of service, excellence and national pride.”
